Toronto, ON — On February 1, 2026, Colorful Cultural Association successfully hosted its Spring Festival Party at the Stephen Leacock Community Centre in Toronto. More than one hundred members and friends from the community gathered to celebrate the Lunar New Year in a warm and festive atmosphere, with the venue beautifully decorated with lanterns and colorful ribbons.

Ms. Jean Yip, Member of Parliament for Scarborough–Agincourt, attended the event with her assistant Patrice and delivered remarks. Despite her busy schedule, Ms. Yip joined the celebration and extended her New Year greetings to all attendees. She also brought traditional Lunar New Year gifts — red envelopes containing New Year wishes from Prime Minister Mark Carney and herself, along with chocolates — sharing joy and goodwill with the community. Members and guests took commemorative photos together, creating lasting memories.

Ms. Yan Chen, assistant to Mayor Olivia Chow, was also present and conveyed the Mayor’s festive greetings and best wishes to Colorful Cultural Association and its members.

Congratulatory letters were additionally sent by MPP Aris Babikian and City Councillor Nick Mantas of Scarborough–Agincourt, expressing their continued support for the Association.

During the event, Ms. Xiaoping Hao, President of Colorful Cultural Association, delivered a speech reviewing the organization’s achievements in 2025. She highlighted that the Association consistently offered 16 weekly programs throughout the year, successfully hosted the “Hundred Flowers Welcoming Spring” New Year Gala at City Playhouse Theatre, and organized the 8th “Colorful Night” brand performance in October 2025.

In 2025, the Association also hosted the Second Senior Fitness Games, attracting nearly 30 teams and over 600 participants from the Greater Toronto Area. Featuring traditional fitness, aerobic exercise, and group dance activities, the event showcased the positive, healthy, and active spirit of seniors and has become a recognized community brand event.

In terms of community engagement, Colorful Cultural Association participated in more than 20 large-scale cultural and recreational events in 2025, further expanding its social impact and promoting intercultural exchange and collaboration.

Ms. Hao also outlined plans for 2026, including the introduction of Chinese Waist Drum and Martial Arts programs, increasing weekly activities to 19; hosting the Third Senior Fitness Games; organizing the 9th “Colorful Night”; and continuing to participate in major cultural and recreational events organized by other community groups to promote multiculturalism and traditional Chinese culture.

The Spring Festival Party featured a wide range of performances presented by members, including choir singing, poetry recitation, qipao dance, line dancing, ZUMBA, and group dances. A prize draw with donated gifts and an annual recognition ceremony were also held to honor board members, instructors, class leaders, and outstanding volunteers.

The event concluded successfully in a joyful and harmonious atmosphere.
