TORONTO — September 12, 2026 — The Awards Ceremony and Cultural Performance of the 3rd Seniors Fitness Skills Grand Competition of Toronto, organized by the Colorful Cultural Association, was successfully held at the Toronto Fairview Public Library Theatre.
Distinguished guests representing all three levels of government attended the event. Leaders of the 34 participating teams, performers, volunteers, and members of the community gathered together to celebrate the achievements of the competition and witness this special moment of recognition for all participating teams and participants.
Drums and Celebration Open the Awards Ceremony
The event began in a festive atmosphere filled with lively and energetic drumbeats.
The waist drum team of Paradise Senior Association Markham made a spirited entrance, followed by the Shaanxi Association of Canada’s Datang Drum Ensemble with a powerful performance of Munao Zongge. The waist drum teams of the Colorful Cultural Association and the Shaanxi Association of Canada then joined together to present the dynamic Ansai waist drum performance Shengshi Yaogu. The powerful drumbeats and energetic rhythms quickly filled the theatre with excitement.
The Golden Carnival Seniors Association Wind Ensemble then performed the Competition Theme Song. As the familiar melody filled the theatre once again, it brought everyone back to the excitement, unity, and joy of the July 12 competition.

Following the singing of Canada’s national anthem, O Canada, the awards ceremony officially began.
Ms. Xiaoping Hao, President of the Colorful Cultural Association, delivered the opening remarks. On behalf of the organizer, she expressed her sincere appreciation to all distinguished guests, the 34 participating teams, and everyone who supported and contributed to the success of the competition.

She emphasized that the significance of the competition lies “not only in competing, but in participating; not only in winning awards, but in health, happiness, and connection.” She expressed the hope that the competition would encourage more seniors to step out of their homes and become actively involved in the community—to improve their health through exercise, build friendships through social interaction, and experience the joy of life through participation.
She also expressed special thanks to the 34 participating teams, government officials at all levels, community organizations, friends and supporters from across the community, as well as members of the Organizing Committee and volunteers who worked tirelessly for the event. It was their collective participation, support, and dedication that made this year’s competition a success.
Government Representatives Offer Congratulations and Share in the Moment of Recognition
Representatives from all three levels of government attended the event and offered their congratulations, including MP Jean Yip, Ontario MPP Aris Babikian, Toronto City Councillor Shelley Carroll, and Markham City Councillor Amanda Yeung. A congratulatory message from Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow was also presented during the event.
The guests congratulated the organizers on the successful competition and joined members of the community in witnessing this special moment of recognition for all participating teams.

Every Participant Shares in the Honour
During the awards ceremony, representatives from all 34 participating teams were invited to the stage to receive recognition.
In recognition of the teams’ active participation and outstanding performances, the Organizing Committee presented the Best Organization Award and the Best Performance Award. Among them, 10 teams received both the Best Organization Award and the Best Performance Award, while 24 teams received the Best Performance Award.
Representatives of the award-winning teams came to the stage to receive their awards and take commemorative photographs with the presenting guests. Applause and laughter filled the theatre, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere.
Each certificate represented the hard work and dedication of a participating team, while every round of applause expressed encouragement and best wishes to seniors who remain active and passionate about life.
Following the awards presentation, government guests, representatives of the award-winning teams, and leaders of the Colorful Cultural Association gathered for a group photograph. As the Competition Theme Song played once again, the special “family photo” captured a joyful and unforgettable moment in the 3rd Seniors Fitness Skills Grand Competition of Toronto.

26 Wonderful Performances Showcase the Artistic Vitality of Seniors
Following the awards ceremony, a colourful cultural performance brought the celebration to another high point.
Performers from the participating community organizations presented 26 wonderful programs, featuring African drumming, classical dance, contemporary dance, ethnic dance, Tai Chi, Mulan sword, Korean long-drum dance, fitness dance, ballroom dance, fashion shows, qipao presentations, and other forms of artistic expression.
One wonderful performance followed another. Ethnic dances were lively and passionate, while classical dances were graceful and elegant. Tai Chi performances combined strength with softness; fashion shows displayed elegance and confidence; energetic dances radiated vitality; and ballroom dances brought grace and charm to the stage.
Together, these diverse performances showcased the talent, confidence, optimism, vitality, and love of life of seniors across the Greater Toronto Area.
It was especially inspiring to see that many performers were already in their seventies, yet age had done nothing to diminish their passion for dance, exercise, and a fulfilling life. Through their graceful movements, enthusiasm, and confident smiles, they demonstrated that “age may increase, but vitality is always alive.”
Several lucky draws were also held during the cultural performance, with prizes including travel packages, a cruise package, insulated mugs, and winter jackets, adding even more joy and excitement to the celebration.
The program concluded with the Beauty Sunset Senior Activity Centre’s ballroom dance My Motherland and Me. With graceful movements and a heartfelt melody, the performance brought the cultural celebration to a warm and memorable close.

Promoting Health Through Exercise, Strengthening Community Through Connection
From the 3rd Seniors Fitness Skills Grand Competition on July 12, which brought together nearly 1,000 participants, to the Awards Ceremony and Cultural Performance on September 12, these two closely connected community events provided seniors with a platform to showcase their achievements in fitness and the arts, while further strengthening交流 and friendships among different communities and organizations.
Exercise promotes health. Participation brings happiness. Connection builds friendship.

With warm applause, joyful laughter, and heartfelt good wishes, the Awards Ceremony and Cultural Performance of the 3rd Seniors Fitness Skills Grand Competition of Toronto came to a successful conclusion.
Everyone looks forward to gathering again next year and to making the next Seniors Fitness Skills Grand Competition even more exciting!
